First performed at the National Theatre in 1995 to great acclaim and winner of several 'best play' awards, "Skylight" is a passionate, sharp and satisfying play, an impassioned head-on collision of values and confused desires.
Three years after their intense relationship has abruptly ended, Tom, a wealthy reatauranteur, turns up unexpectedly at the flat of Kyra, a schoolteacher. Hare blends humour, tension, tenderness and confrontation, as their love is challenged by their differing views.
'The play of the decade' said the Spectator at the time. A decade later it remains 'A magnificant chamber play by one of the few major playwrights in our language.' (New York Times)

What the papers say:

Impassioned collision of confused desires
"Skylight is a less overtly political play than much of his [Hare's] output, with the characters and their relationships being most prominent. But behind the characters lie different values and opinions, as they see society from different perspectives. Is it possible to reconcile the two visions and thus create a fair and successful society? For director Mike Polack, this is the essence of the play. The cast includes two professional actors, Frederica Dunstan and Martin Turner."
