Devizes Film Club – Limbo

From: February 5, 2026,

A stirring drama, laced with deadpan humour, Limbo is about Syrian refugees, stuck on a remote Scottish island while they await the results of their asylum claims. Housed in grim hostels, they have nothing to do except wait. Omar (Amir El-Masry) is a young musician who has carried his grandfather’s oud from his homeland but refuses to play it. He has been separated from his family. His parents are in Turkey while his brother has returned to Syria. As fear and anger mount, he phones his mother, to ask for recipes from home. A heart-rending and witty film. Winner of four Scottish BAFTAs.
