This beautiful, emotional film captures the frenetic and intoxicating atmosphere of modern Mumbai. Three nurses have come to the big city from home towns. Anu (Divya Prabha) is causing scandal because she has a Muslim boyfriend. Parvaty (Chhaya Kadam), a widow, is being threatened with eviction. Prabha (Kani Kusruti) has an absentee husband. The catalyst for action comes when she receives a rice-cooker from Germany where he lives. Does he want to revive the relationship, or is this an insulting pay-off? The women decide to escape the city and take a trip to the coast, where Prabha has a revelation. Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix winner.
